Liberal Arts Intensive 2023
A week of great books, philosophy and theology for young people

Our first intensive ran from Monday 11 to Friday 15 September 2023, before the Trust was formally registered. It brought together a senior cohort (ages 15–20) and a junior cohort (ages 10–14) for a week of study with Ben and Eliza McCabe, founders of Augustine Academy in New South Wales, whose partnership has shaped the intensive from the beginning.
Senior students read Aeschylus, Beowulf, Milton's Paradise Lost and Les Misérables; studied Socrates, Plato and Aristotle; worked through C.S. Lewis's Mere Christianity and John Paul II's Love and Responsibility; and learned the laws of thought, argument structure and formal logic. Juniors met Socrates, Hawthorne, Tolkien's The Hobbit and Lewis's Narnia, with logic woven through the week.
Days ran from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, with Mass together on Wednesday and Friday.
