Campion College Summer Program, Sydney
Applications open now. 12 to 15 January 2027.
Four days in Sydney that change how a young person thinks about study
Campion College in Sydney is Australia's only liberal arts college. Each January it opens its campus to senior secondary students and recent school leavers for a four-day residential program: sample lectures in philosophy, literature, history and theology, meals and evenings with the student body, and a genuine taste of what an education built on the great tradition looks like from the inside.
For a sixteen or seventeen year old who has no idea what to study, four days like this are worth more than a year of careers advice.
The program runs 12 to 15 January 2027 and is free to attend, funded by Campion's donors. For New Zealanders, the only barrier is the airfare.
Our contribution
The St Thomas More Trust is offering travel grants of $300 NZD toward trans-Tasman travel for young New Zealanders attending the Summer Program.
Eligibility is simple. Applicants must be aged 16 to 19 at the time of the program and must have been accepted into the Campion College Summer Program.
These grants are funded by our donors. The number we can award depends on what is given, and awards are made at the discretion of the Trustees.
Applying
Applications go to dean.mischewski@gmail.com and should include:
Your details. Name, age, location, contact information.
An expression of interest. 150 to 200 words on why you want to attend and how you hope to benefit from studying the liberal arts.
Registration status. Confirmation that you have registered with Campion College, or evidence of an expression of interest submitted.
Apply as early as you can. Places on the program are limited and we would rather award a grant to someone who already has a seat.
A note for parents
We are not asking your son or daughter to commit to anything. This is four days, well supervised, on a small campus with a serious academic culture. Most young people who attend come home clearer about what they want, whether or not that turns out to be a liberal arts degree.
Help send a student
Grants are funded entirely by donations. $300 is the difference between a young New Zealander attending and not.
